Shokunin Store is proud to offer you hand-selected, high quality Japanese food items.

Our team consists of several mothers who have lived outside Japan but continue to cook Japanese food at home. When we return to Japan, we bring back a variety of food items because the local options often prioritise convenience and shelf life over quality, resulting in products that may contain chemicals from highly processed foods. However, in Japan, there are numerous exceptional items that we believe should be introduced to the world. We seek products made with care, known for their deliciousness and health-promoting qualities. Unfortunately, such options are rarely available outside Japan, which is why we ventured into the food business.

Much like the non-perishable products we offer, there are numerous exceptional food items that seldom reach the global market, whether due to language barriers or limited availability. It is our aim to make these hidden gems available in markets beyond Japan.

In 2013, traditional Japanese dietary culture (washoku) was registered as UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. This recognition is based on several factors:

Despite the increasing appreciation and popularity of Japanese cuisine outside Japan, a gap exists between what people desire and what is readily available. We believe it’s time to provide our foodie friends abroad with the same high-quality products that we take pride in enjoying ourselves.
