Our team has just returned to Sydney after showcasing our finest at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2024, and we’re excited to share highlights from our latest adventure.
Participating in the MIFGS 2024 wasn’t just an opportunity for us—it was a responsibility we felt deeply. Representing the pinnacle of Japanese craftsmanship in gardening tools on this global stage is a duty we owe to the incredibly talented artisans whose life’s work is encapsulated in every tool we present. This event was more than just a showcase; it was a testament to the unparalleled quality and enduring legacy of the craftsmanship we are honored to bring to garden enthusiasts around the world.
Location:
We ventured to the stunning Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens again this year, a world heritage listed site steeped in history and beauty, just like our tools, to showcase our passion.
Event Highlights:
This isn’t just any event; it’s the largest gardening festival in the Southern Hemisphere and said to rank among the top 5 worldwide! Imagine, over 100,000 visitors, each sharing a love for all things green and blooming.
Behind the Scenes:
Yes, it was a marathon of effort and not the easiest on the wallet for our growing business. But the return on investment transcends numbers when you’re showered with praise from the who’s who in the gardening world.
Star-Studded Visits:
Charlie Albone, 2023 Gold Winner & TV star from Better Homes and Gardens, now a regular customer of our store. He is obviously a Yoshioka fan. His chosen tool this year was our recommendation and the best seller of the show, Black Masamune Pruning Shears.
Tammy Huynh, TV presenter ABC Gardening Australia and Horticulturalist of the year. We talked about diversity and inclusivity in the world of gardening. Our popular compact Kenkatabami “Dainty” secateurs made for smaller hands fit her hand perfectly, so pleased. Tammy also bought Mizuno Craft Axe Mini.
Jason Hodges, ex-Better Homes and Gardens TV presenter, bearer of the Chelsea Silver Award, and Clarence Slockee from ABC Gardening Australia, a TED speaker, also graced us with their presence.
Special Mention:
Emmaline Bowman from STEM Landscape Architecture & Design, who made history with 5 awards at the show, gave us a huge thumbs up! I wish we knew you had been a fan of our products much earlier, Em! Em bought quite a few things but amongst those are our compact Bud Trimming Scissors “Pointy Small” and Kuroco Single-edged Pointed Tip Scissors by Yoshioka Hamono.
Receiving rave reviews from these individuals not only validated the popularity but also truly solidified the quality of all our tools. We were grateful they came to us in their busy work schedules in Melbourne.
