Description
Handcrafted by a Master Potter
Discover the artistry of Sekisyu Ware with this large hand-thrown soba dipping cup. As a master potter with over 35 years of experience shapes each cup by hand (手捻り), it develops unique character and warmth that molds simply cannot replicate. Additionally, each piece showcases subtle variations, making every cup truly one-of-a-kind.
Natural Iron Gray and Golden Glow
The cup wears a striking iron gray glaze with a soft golden wash inside, formed naturally during firing—no real gold is used. This warm glow adds depth and elegance to every sip. Because it’s not real gold, you can microwave it if you must. But it is not recommended to preserve its beauty.
Generous 250 ml Capacity
At roughly 25% larger than standard soba cups, this cup was designed with international users in mind. Offering a comfortable, generous size, it’s perfect for enjoying all your favorite condiments; green onions, ginger, wasabi, shiso, whatever you desire. It also works beautifully for tea, coffee, desserts, dips or other creative servings.
Versatile for Every Occasion
Beyond soba, this cup is ideal for:
- Tea or coffee
- Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard)
- Desserts like affogato, yoghurt with jam or granola
Creative serving ideas—the possibilities are endless.
A Perfect Blend of Tradition and Function
Hand-thrown and thoughtfully glazed, this cup combines traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern practicality. Its elegant design makes it equally at home on a traditional Japanese or Asian table setting, as well as a modern Western dining table. Durable and versatile, it’s perfect for daily use or as a gift for lovers of Japanese ceramics.
