Description

This is a sharpening stone for garden secateurs and floral scissors recommended by Toyama Hamono, our primary scissor maker.  Just soak in water for 20 min before use.  All blades loose sharpness with use.  Even the top quality Japanese scissors.  Although many of you do not seem to feel the stress so much as they do stay sharp for years.  But they do perform better if you maintain them.  This sharpener is compact and thin, designed for scissors.  You can sharpen the scissors without taking them apart.

Secret is in the back of the blade

Take care not to run the sharpener on the back of the blades, only the front.  The secret of Japanese scissors is in the back.  They are concave.  This is one of the reasons why top quality Japanese scissors cut so well.  This is also why Japanese scissors of this level cannot be mass produced.  If you would like to professionally maintain them after years of use, please let us know and we can send them back to our makers.  After all, all our gardening and floral scissors at Shokuinin Store should last for decades, if not generations. All our scissors are hand forged and hand crafted so let’s give them the care they deserve.  We also recommend applying a little camellia seed oil to prevent from rust.
